Our strategies
BWSG has adopted participatory community based informal courts model to advocate for ethnic minority land rights. This model allows women cases land cases to be heard before local community mobile courts before they are approved to be heard at the formal courts.
– Ethnic Minority Paralegals who offer legal aid
-Public Interest Litigations to solve Historical Land injustices
-Feminist Land protests
-Networking – BWSG convened a first ever western land rights network in the coast bringing together 5 land rights organizations to for a solid network that will echo the voices of ethnic minority women. The 5 organizations unanimously agreed to form Coastal Regional Women Feminist Land Rights Network (CREWFELRIN).
BWSG Strengthen Legal and Policy Frameworks by Enact and enforce anti-discrimination laws that protect people living with and affected by HIV. Decriminalize HIV transmission, drug use, sex work, and same-sex relationships to reduce stigma and improve access to services. Align national laws with international human rights standards (e.g., ICESCR, ICCPR, UNGASS declarations).
Promote Access to HIV Services for All by Ensuring universal access to HIV prevention, testing, treatment (including ART), and care. Integrate HIV services with broader health and sexual and reproductive health services. Ensure affordable and accessible treatment especially in low-resource settings.
BWSG Address Stigma and Discrimination by Implementing nationwide stigma-reduction campaigns in media, schools, workplaces, and health centers. Train healthcare workers, law enforcement, teachers, and employers on non-discrimination and the rights of people living with HIV. Promote the "Undetectable = Untransmittable" (U=U) message to reduce fear and misinformation.
BWSG Empower Affected Populations through Supporting the leadership and meaningful involvement of people living with HIV (PLHIV) in decision-making, policy design, and service delivery. Build the capacity of community-based organizations and networks of key populations (e.g., women, LGBTQ+, youth, sex workers). Provide legal aid and human rights education for PLHIV to claim their rights.
BWSG Expand Rights-Based HIV Education through Integrating comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) in schools, focusing on rights, consent, HIV prevention, and gender equality. Target youth, especially adolescent girls and young women, with tailored HIV and rights-based programs.
